Physical Punishment in Islam
An Arab proverb says al-awwam kal anaam! (Common people are like animals). In
Islam people are treated like animals and have similar rights.
And take
in your hand a green branch and beat her with It and do not break
your oath; (Q.38:44)
Clarification.
وَاللاَّتِي
تَخَافُونَ
نُشُوزَهُنَّ
فَعِظُوهُنَّ
وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ
فِي
الْمَضَاجِعِ
وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ
As for those from whom ye fear
rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and beat them. Q. 4:34

law possibly drinking beer or a similar crime.
