Are Allah and God the Same?

By Louis Palme
The Quran makes three bold statements: “Our God and your God is one.” (Surah 29:46); “The Quran confirms the Scriptures that came before it.” (Surah 5:48); “If [the Quran] had not come from God they could have surely found in it many contradictions.” (Surah 4:82) These claims have become the bases for the formation of numerous interfaith alliances among Muslims, Christians, and Jews. They also explain the reluctance of many non-Muslims to criticize the Islamic religion.
But these claims fall apart when one actually compares the text of the Bible with that of the Quran. Here are the most compelling evidences that Allah cannot be the same as the God of the Bible:
Outright lies in the Quran:
1. Muhammad was foretold in the Bible (Surah 7:157). See Deuteronomy 18:18 written about 2,000 years before Muhammad, and John 14:16 where the Greek word paracletos (comforter) is confused with pariklutos (praised one.)
2. The Torah and the Gospel promise Paradise to those who kill and are killed for the sake of Allah. (Surah 9:111). Jesus in fact said, “Those who live by the sword will die by the sword.” (Matthew 26:52)
Treatment of Non-Believers:
Bible: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 6:44)
Quran: “Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends.” (Surah 5:51) “Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them.” (Surah 9:123)
Truth or Falsehood:
Bible: [Jesus said,] “If you obey my teaching, you are really my disciples; you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31)
Quran: “Believers, do not ask questions about things which, if made known to you, would only pain you. . . .Other men inquired about them before you, only to disbelieve them thereafter.” (Surah 5:101)
Misunderstanding the “Trinity” (How can the Quran condemn the Christian Trinity, when it misunderstands its very nature?):
Bible: “ . . . baptize them in the name of the Father [God], the Son [Jesus], and the Holy Spirit. . . “ (Matthew 28:19)
Quran: [Implies that the Trinity is God, Jesus, and Mary in Surahs 4:171 and 5:116.]
Is Jesus the Son of God?
Bible: “And a voice came from heaven, “You are my own dear Son. I am pleased with you.” (Luke 3:22)
Quran: “How should [God] have a son when He had no consort [wife]? (Surah 6:101) Compare that with Surah 3:59, where God said “Be” and Jesus was created.
Marriage to Daughter-in-Law (Muhammad lusted after and married his adopted son’s wife – Zainab.):
Bible: “Do not have intercourse with your daughter-in-law.” (Leviticus 18:15)
Quran: “. . . it should become legitimate for true believers to wed the wives of their adopted sons if they divorced them. God’s will must needs be done.” (Surah 33:37)
Adultery:
Bible: “Do not commit adultery.” (Deuteronomy 5:18)
Quran: (Authorizes sex with slaves and those who are paid for sex [mutah] per Surahs 4:24 and 5:18)
Wife beating:
Bible: “Men ought to love their wives just as they love their own bodies.” (Ephesians 5:28) “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” (Colossians 3:19)
Quran: “As for those [women] from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” (Surah 4:34)
Attributes of Paradise:
Bible: In the presence of God (Matthew 5:8)
Not meat and drink, but righteousness and peace (Romans 14:17)
They will be like angels in heaven and will not marry (Matthew 22:30)
Quran: Rivers of wine (Surah 47:15)
Dark-eyed houris (sex partners), chaste as hidden pearls (Surah 56:17)
God’s Goal for Mankind:
Bible: “[God] wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth.” (I Timothy 2:4) “[God] does not want anyone to be destroyed.” (2 Peter 3:9)
Quran: “He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. But you will certainly be called to account for what you used to do.” (Surah 16:93) “We have predestined for Hell many jinn (spirits) and many men.” (Surah 7:179)
Assurance of Salvation:
Bible: “. . everyone who believes in [Jesus Christ] may not die but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Quran: [Paradise is assured only for those who “slay and are slain” for the cause of God] Surah 9:111 The Quran instructed Muhammad to say, “. . I do not know what will be done with me or you.” (Surah 46:9) He also admitted in a hadith, “I have nothing which can avail you against Allah (Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Number 401)
Purification:
Bible: [Jesus said,] “You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look fine on the outside but are full of bones and decaying corpses on the inside. In the same way, on the outside you appear good to everybody, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and sins.” (Matthew 23:27-28) “Who can ascend to the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart. . . “ (Psalm 24:3-4)
Quran: “Believers, when you rise to pray wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbow, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankle. . . if you can find no water, take some clean sand and rub your hands and faces with it. (Surah 5:6)
Which religion practices Idolatry?
Bible: “. . . we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Hadith: Regarding the Black Stone lodged in the Kaaba in Mecca, Umar, Muhammad’s companion and the second Caliph, said, “I know that you are only a stone which can neither bring benefit nor cause harm. Were it not that I had seen the Prophet kiss you, I would not have kissed you.” (Al-Bukhari Vol. 2, Book 26, Number 675) Kissing the Black Stone remains a part of the Hajj ritual.
Is Allah just another word for the God of the Bible?
Arabic Bibles and some foreign translations of the Bible use “Allah” as the term for God. This is because the term is familiar to former Muslims. However, the written name is not as significant as the nature of deity it refers to. The God of the Bible is universal, whereas the Allah of the Quran is a localized god – the god of the Kaaba.
Bible: “So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free men, between men and women, you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) Jesus rejected any geographic orientation in the worship of God in John 4:23.
Quran: “Let them worship the Lord of this House. . . .” (Surah 106:3) “Say: I am bidden to serve the Lord of this City, which he made sacred.” (Surah 27:91) Muslims are instructed to pray towards Mecca and the Kaaba in Surah 2:150.

@Vijay, Yours are attributes of (God/Allah), our Father.
Neither of them are even close to being God. God is Sat (truth), Chit (consciousness), Anand (all-bliss).

@Truth Seeker, ‘Allah’ is the God of the Bible, of Abraham the monotheist. Muhammad just hijacked His name and degraded Him to be his mere servant, and he plagiarized all the stories of the Bible and claimed that they are direct revelations to him by Allah, in his effort to establish himself as the Messenger of God/Allah and the seal of the prophets.
Probably the Literal Meaning of allah and God are same, but really not. The Teaching is also like that. As Islam claims Supremcistism, it is applicable to god too. Rather allah is above the gods shown by all other Religions. Today many of the muslims may not advocate like this, though they may have belief in mind.
Statment 2 is false “The Torah and the Gospel promise Paradise to those who kill and are killed for the sake of Allah” and Allah is satan:

The word “sword” in the Bible means “the word of GOD(Jesus).
Hebrews 4:12-14
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

I dont have time to check the rest of what you have been writing but when you dont have knowledge of this, what do you know ???
of course god in arabic is allah, because their official god is allah, the only god. no other god but allah. say otherwise and you’ll lose your head. they didn’t call hindu’s god allah.
@Sammy, If Muslims worship the moon god then they are nicer than I thought. I myself worship the sun Ra
God in Arabic is Allah. Those who know better can go and fake themselves especially the experts because they are supposed to know better.
it’s said, there’s no illah but allah. not, there’s no allah but allah.

“Does it really matter if the Quranic allah is the biblic GOD. NO christian today understands Jesus. Nothing is known about Jesus, but his teaching have a strong likeness to Buddhism, Please research. Unforutnately christians follow the old testament more than what Jesus preached. Christianity is similar to Islam the only difference being in their Date of birth, hence the difference.”
Yes, it does matter whether the Islamic Allah is the Bible God, because the Quran makes claims which diametrically oppose all what the Bible God commands, which indicates they both cannot be the same entity.
Further research exposes the reasons why Allah is not the God of the Bible.
You are wrong when you claim “no Christian today understands Jesus, nothing is known about Jesus”
Even Non Christian sources speak about a man named Jesus who was crucified under Pontius Pilate. Christians understand Jesus very well by reading both the Old and New Testaments, which clearly indicate who Jesus is, and what His mission is.
Christianity has no similarity to Islam whatsoever, as Islam contradicts and distorts Christianity fully, indicating clearly it cannot have the same origins. Mohammed fulfils the criteria for being a false prophet, consequently the Quran is a book of deception, anyone reading it becomes one of the deceived.
@Ra”Who really knows what or who Muhammad worshipped, either before or after Islam? Most likely, I would say, he worshipped himself or maybe he sold his soul to the devil. Who knows?”
You don’t seem to want to answer the question Ra,would there be a reason for this?
Either way, Islamic sources themselves prove beyond doubt Mohammed was a idolater, he worshipped Hubal the (greatest) moon god of Arabia, along with his tribe the Quraish, its title was Allah, who had intercessing daughters, the goddesses Al lat,Al Uzza and Al Manet.Mohammed just elevated his tribal god to be the only god, aligning it with the Bible God, keeping his familiar tribal customs known as Ramadan, to give his newly invented faith Islam more authenticity as a religion.
Muslims ever since have been duped into believing they are worshipping the one true God of the Bible but they are not, they are worshipping the god most familiar to Mohammed, known as Allah,a pagan idol.
“We have been told that the Apostle of God once mentioned al-Uzza saying, “I have offered a white sheep to al-‘Uzza, while I was a follower of the religion of my people.”
The Quraysh were wont to circumambulate the Ka’bah and say:
“By Allat and al-‘Uzza,
And Manah, the third idol besides.
Verily they are the most exalted females[15]
Whose intercession is to be sought[16].”
These were also called “the Daughters of Allah[17],” and were supposed to intercede before God.”

Read 2 Kings 18 in the Bible and Tanakh as it mentions about a king of Israel whose name was Elah when the Jewish kingdom was divided between Israel and Judah.
Please remember if Elah was Allah or any form of the word meant Almighty God then it would be blasphemous for the Jews to name a king or even mention that in the Bible or Tanakh.
So obviously it seems that Elah or Allah is not Almighty God who is called as Yahweh or Jehovah
@Ron, Yours is a beautiful sermon yet the fact remains that: book is ketab in Arabic, pencil is qalam, angel is malak and God is Allah.
In all religions it is man reaching out to God.
Christianity is the only religion where God is reaching out to man.
In all religions you need works to reach God.
In Christianity as mentioned in the New Testament you are saved by grace (not works) through faith in Jesus Christ.
In Africa the shamans (witch doctors) are never scared of Atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, animists, you name it, and all their clergy. Most of the above are scared of the witchdoctors.
But they are terrified of evangelical, Holy Spirit filled Christians.
The highest number of first adoptions of orphans in the world is done by Christians.
More than 85% of second orphan adoptions around the world is done by Christians.
The majority of the AIDS and Leprosy homes in the world and specially in the third world is run by Christians wherein the majority of the inmates are non-Christians.
The highest charity raised for the care and healing of orphans, widows and the sick is done by Christians.
The Red Cross, YMCA, Boy Scouts, Salvation Army , world vision, Harvard University, Princeton, Yale, Duke, Oxford, Dartmouth, W&M, Rutgers U and many free hospitals, hospices, old-age homes, orphanages around practically all countries in the world were founded by Christians.
No other faith comes near to doing good to mankind than what Christianity does.
Mohamed said for establishing peace, you have to kill people .
Buddha said for establishing peace, run away from people/world.
Krisna said for establishing peace, do your duty and kill your kin.
Christ said for establishing peace, follow me, love your enemies, bless them and forgive them.
There are more manuscriptal historical evidence of Jesus than of any person of his time or before.
Follow Jesus as He is the way, the truth and the life.
‘Yahweh’ is only used in The Old Testament.
‘Elohim’ is ‘Allahumma’ in the Quran

@ron, even god complain about his peoples forgot what his name for the sake of moon god in jeremiah 23. something muhammad missed
@sammy, @ra, muhammad worship a deity named allah/allat. his father name is abdullah, meaning, the servant of allah. and his father was dead before muhammad’s born.
The biblical God is called Yahweh (or Jehovah) nearly 9,000 times. Yet Allah is not called by that name even once in the Koran. Why not, if Allah is the same God? God is also referred to as Elohim more than 2,500 times in the Bible, but again that word never appears for Allah in the Koran.
Is it possible that the youtube referenced by Ra could be taqqiya orchestrated by that so called Yemeni Jew? You never know…
Well, this article isn’t biased at all… lol.
Anyway just FYI, Allah means exactly the same thing as God.
Islam recognizes Christianity and Judaism as having come from the same God as Islam. The premise is that “The jews rewrote that shit.” Okay, not a real quote, but same idea lol. This idea of the localized God is retardedly ignorant, The Quran portrays God as having a localized place of worship etc., but I assure you, he is also greatly detailed as having created the universe.
Hi Sammy, Who really knows what or who Muhammad worshipped, either before or after Islam? Most likely, I would say, he worshipped himself or maybe he sold his soul to the devil. Who knows?
@Ra
Who did Mohammed worship before Islam?

In spite of what the apologists for Islam claim the facts of reality is that the God of the Bible is not the god of Islam. The reason that even some Arab Christians in the Middle East use the word Allah for God is because many years ago truth compromising Bible “translators” substituted the word “Allah ‘ where it the word God should have been used in the making of the Arabic translation of the Bible. Furthermore, in the glossary of the book ASSASSINS ! by Dr. Ha ha Lung defines Allah as the “pre-Islamic Lunar god; the god of Islam. Moreover, the book INSIDE ISLAM by Reza F.S Safa on pages 22,23. read “In pre-Islamic times both Allah-worship and Baal-worship involved the worship of the sun, the moon and the stars which defines them as astral religions. [Such cults are condemned in the Bible, Second Kings 23:5.] The crescent moon ,which was the symbol of moon worship is also the symbol of Islam.” In short the god of Islam is not the God of the Bible,
The words in brackets are my own. In addition , some informative books which expose this about truth are WHO IS THIS ALLAH ?by G.j.O. Moshay and UNVEILING ISLAM by Ergun Mehmet Caner and Emir Fethi Caner. There is also THE ISLAMIC INVASION by Robert Morey as well as PHILISTINE by Ramon Bennett
There is no two translations for ‘God’ in the Arabic Bible: one for the Christians and one for the ex-Muslims. You are full of hot air.
