"Muslims and Christians have not always shaken hands in friendship; their relations have sometimes been tense, even characterized by outright hostility," states the preamble to a so-called reconciliation statement, on the
Yale Center for Faith and & Culture'swebsite.
There are no references to Islamic warlords.
The groaning statement - signed by Pastor Rick Warren and other liberal
pastors - continues: "Since
Jesus Christ says, 'First take the log out your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye' (Matthew 7:5), we want to begin by acknowledging that in the past (e.g. in the Crusades) and in the present (e.g. in excesses of the 'war on terror') many Christians have been guilty of sinning against our Muslim neighbors."
The war on terror is left to suffocate in scare quotes.
In the Christian left's political worldview, then, "many" pro-security Christians are like hypocritical Pharisees, with logs in their eyes, and Muslim invaders have only a few specks (at worst). "Before we 'shake your hand' in responding to your letter, we ask forgiveness of the All-Merciful One and of the
Muslim community around the world."
In context, though,
Jesus never told us to use forgiveness as a stage. More to the point, he didn't ask Christians to say sorry to
Allah, and his enablers. Brainteaser: Are modern-day Episcopalians fans of female circumcision?
In all truth, Christ's teachings on the speck and log are about making hypocritical judgements based on lies, and he was no pacifist. Think: Why did Christ praise the Centurion?
Most bizarrely, the Neville Chamberlain Christians state: "The future of the world depends on our ability as Christians and Muslims to live together in peace. If we fail to make every effort to make peace and come together in harmony you correctly remind us that 'our eternal souls' are at stake as well." So, in other words, our future depends on living with Muslims, who reject Christ's teaching, reject women's rights, reject the Bible's positions on Israel, and reject the United States.
Nevertheless, Pastor Rick Warren, the Neville of Chamberlain of
Christianity, agrees that it is the job of conspiratorial Muslim-majority nations, to "correctly remind us that 'our eternal souls' are at stake as well" without a vote. And, there is no explanation as to why "our eternal souls" deserve scare quotes.
In
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades), Robert Spencer raises three extremely important truths: 1. "The Crusades were not acts of unprovoked aggression by Europe against the Islamic world, but were a delayed response to centuries of Muslim aggression, which grew fiercer than ever in the eleventh century." 2. "These were wars for the recapture of Christian lands and the defense of Christianity, not religious imperialism." 3. "The Crusades were not called to convert Muslims or anyone to Christianity by force."
In any case, can you imagine Jesus asking Moses to repent for his rebellious acts against the
Egyptians? And, assuming that Christians are "bad" and Muslims are "good," is it the duty of Neville Chamberlain Christians to say sorry for the so-called sins of our fathers?
From a sociological point of view too, I find it interesting that media-hungry mega-pastors and their out-of-touch liberal pastor friends (from dying liberal denominations) feel that they "speak" for Christians. Why? Because, in a good many cases, Christians reject the feminization of Christianity, and the Christian left, in particular. No wonder the elite media love them so.
So - roughly - how many people attend weekly services in America? Here are some
estimates::
Churches with 45 people or less 100,000 churches, 25% of all churches
Churches with 75 people or less 200,000, 50% of all churches
Churches with 150 people or less 300,000 churches, 75% of all churches
Churches with 350 people or less 380,000 churches, 95% of all churches
Churches with 800 people or less 392, 000 churches, 98% of all churches
Churches with 800 people or more 8,000 churches, 2% of all churches
Churches with 2,000 people or more 870 churches, 0.22% of all churches
Churches with 3,000 people or more 425 churches, 0.11% of all churches
Numbers vary, of course, but no sociologist truly believes that so-called mega-churches (like Warren's) represent mainstream America, with only 0.11%. Add or subtract a few percentage points, and still the seeker-sensitive supermarket churches and liberal denominations are as popular as redheaded stepchildren.
So, why are these submissive pastors asking Christians to repent to Muslims for not allowing them to pillage Europe? And, if one accepts the Islamic view of history, is it right to apologize for the "sins" of our fathers? (Not according Jesus.) Honestly, what are the
spiritual, financial and psychological consequences of "stage forgiveness" in a war against terror without scare quotes?

I was unaware of Mr. Warren's
I was unaware of Mr. Warren's statements. I am very sorry he said that. I enjoyed his book. Hoever, I am forever puzzled as to why some people (I'm not even considering the political left in this context for obvious reasons) seem to believe that to be a good christian, one must ignore unpleasant facts of reality, except to condemn oneself or other christians. Paul spoke against this self flagelation, whether by spiritual exercise or literal self abuse. He said he did not even judge himself to compair himself to others or to himself, but let God judge him. He did advise us to examine ourselves, and repent of sin, but this global self judgement and church judgement is Christ's work, not ours. He is without sin and able to make a true judgement. Also, Paul warns us against forms of ascetisism and self abuse which he states does nothing to purify the soul. Nevertheless, it is a great tempation for christians to imagine that they are working their way into more of God's favor by arbitrarily beating themselves up, and absolving those who sin against us of any wrong doing, despite facts to the contrary.
One christian author wrote that forgiveness implies that sin has been commited against the one who is forgiving the other.
This Rick Warren is nothing
This Rick Warren is nothing but a homophobic, intolerant bigot and an embarrassment to all decent Xians . Also best of pals with Potus Obama.
Is it any wonder he wants to roll over onto his back like a servile puppy for his master Islam to rub his tummy? Birds of a feather flock together. Enough said!
The crazy thing about this
The crazy thing about this tendency to ask for forgiveness from those who have wronged us, when we have not wronged them, is that it doesn't change the way that God sees their sin, nor does it take away their need to be forgiven by both those who have actually been abused and by God Himself. We as christians are frequently reminded by our pastors that God doesn't forgive excuses, He forfives sin. Thus we are exorted to confess and repent of our own wins, and not to make excuses for them. Are we encouraging muslims to repent and be saved when we tell them that their rank denial of their sins, past and current, is the truth?
Sorry for all the typos, that
Sorry for all the typos, that should read "God doesn't forgive excuses, He forgives sin. Thus we are exorted to confess and repent of our own sins, and not the make excuses for them."
Did someone watch the video
Did someone watch the video of the reply of the Persian king to Omar bin Khattab. Man Omar must have cried after reading that letter. A fitting reply from a civilized man to an Arab scumbag bedouin.
# 5 ibrahim Yes indeed, I
# 5 ibrahim
Yes indeed, I also saw the video a while ago on You-tube. I don't know if it is still there and if it is, it is well worth a visit . The Persian king really put the warlord Omar in his place. The best part is that it was a Persian slave who put his dagger to this tyrant and sent him on his way to his ugly, nagging 72 virgins in Hell.
It is therefore such a pity that today, this once great nation now has an Arab lapdog Armed-jihad serving as its president. Hopefully this nation will soon regain it honor and courage and rid itself of its parasitic moolas as it once did the Shah. I can't wait for the day and am keeping a huge box of candy to give out in celebration when they do.
Rick Warren is a member of
Rick Warren is a member of the elite Christendom. Why bow down to Islam, a cult that wants him dead. Is he trying to present himself as a nice guy to Pres. Obama, knowing his past. Is he trying to appease the black member of his meaga church? Why not preach and teach the truth. Yale and Harvard are schools of Marxist, Communist, Islamic learning. Harvard allows Muslims to have separate swim holes. Muslims tried that at a college, and they were discredited quickly. Harvard is off the list of schools we will send our children to. Harvard is anti-god, and since Islam is anti-god it is taught.
Before the Arab Muslims conquered Persia/Iran, they were educated. Today, look at Iran, as backward as Muhammad. Iranians are not Arabs, so why a.llow backward warlords to take over. I guess it is like the Africans who allowed it. Allah/Arab Muslims scare or terrorized them into submission.
Rick Warren is a shame representing Jesus. Like I said, it is not Christianity, but CHRISTENDOM.
True Shafee, there are
True Shafee, there are atleast a couple of men from India who dare to standup up to modern day Omar's.

1. Islam sinning against
1. Islam sinning against preislamic Arabs, Hindus, Buddhists, Pharsees, and Christians in the name of Allah and Muhammad is a sinful religion from its inception.
2. Christianity or Christiandom destroying Greek, Roman, Druids, Celts, Mayan, Incas, Aztecs, Indians and other religions/civilizations in the name of Father and Son (Jesus) is as guilty as Islam. However, at this stage Christianity should join hands with non-Moslem religions and send Islam to its place of origin---desert.
Rome captured Greece and
Rome captured Greece and spoke Greek. The Christian bible was written in Greek as most Jews spoke Greek. Rome sent Christians to the lions.
2.. Christianity didnt destroy any of them as Christians were never told to kill or destroy. CHRISTENDOM DID IT, under rome.
Christendom is asking Islam to forgive them! Why! Which God said kill Muslims?
When Spanish catholics came to Mexico they did a service as the Incas and Aztec enslaved other Indians and cut out the hearts of virgins to the Sun god. The real reason why the Indians lost to Spain was religion. They expected a white god to come and when the white Spanish came they bowed down. The Indians priests had no choice as they had taught for many years that the Sun god was white coming on a horse. This is there history. The pyramids of Mexico look like the ones in Egypt trying to reach heaven as the Bible said and they had a flood story also. Now they didnt have a Bible back then but had the flood story as in the Bible. Indians in America came from China over the Baring
Strait off Alaska.
I was a fan of Rick Warren
I was a fan of Rick Warren until the day he gave the invokation on the inauguration of the POTUS whe he prayed and said, "In the name of the one who changed my life, Jesus, Yeshua, Isa,......".
If there is one thing I hate so much is calling Jesus "Isa". Jesus is not Isa, period. If muslims think Jesus is Isa, they must also believe he died on the cross and rose the third day. They must also believe he is the Son of God. How can an experienced pastor like Rick be a dhimmi?
Although at times I'm swayed to think that crusades were unchristian, i.e in the context of Jesus and the New Testament, but on second thought I tend to believe that the crusades were approved by God. You agree with me or not I dont care. Crusades were even less violent compared to Moses and Yoshua ethnic cleansing of the Canaanites. If God gave the nod to Joshua why not to Pope?
#13 why would you think the
#13 why would you think the Crusades was god's will. Pope Urba did it when the Arab christians asked him to. Muslims had over run Jerusalem.
Moses and Joshua did ethnic cleansing of Canaan? Really? Canaan is Lebanon today. Canaan was Ham's son, Noah's grandson and because of the infringement on Noah was cursed. Ham was not cursed but Canaan. When the Israelites went against god's will aND attacked Canaan they were defeated.
During this time it was tribe against tribe and some Israelite tribes sided with Canaan. Remember the ten tribe kingdom of Jews who went north and melted in with other tribes thus no more real Jews except two tribes-two tribe kingdom.
Joshua was a member of the Mosaic Law and the Pope was not. Remember Jesus came in between. Jesus never said kill anyone. Under the new covenant The followers of christ were to refrain from violence. The Pope was not doing the will of God.
Rick Warren didnt read that Isa was really no one. There were many Jews named Jesus. Which Isa or which Jesus is the Quran talking about. Rick need to read and stop bowing to Lord Obama.
