Islam is not a monolithic religion

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friendPDF versionPDF version

Islam is not a monolithic religion. There are other versions of Islam. Not all Muslims are fanatics. There are many Muslims who are liberals, who believe in human rights and equality of gender. You cannot condemn all the Muslims.

The Islam I am opposing is the Islam of Muhammad and what he taught in Quran. I am not concerned about other versions of Islam.

Islam cannot be changed. You only can change Islam when you change the Quran. Trying to humanize Islam is like trying to humanize Nazism. Representing Islam as a tolerant and humanistic religion is a lie.

The Quran and the Hadith say that women are less than men; they are deficient in intelligence and beat your wives if you fear disobedience on their behalf. How can you preach equality without changing what is in Quran?

The Quran demands killing the disbelievers, waging war on them until everyone converts to Islam or is “subdued, feels humiliated and pays Jizyah”, How can you build an Islam that talks about tolerance, but neglects the inhumanities of Quran? It is like trying to discover a “liberal” Nazism in which everybody is loving and gentle, and there is no racial hostility. If you want to fool yourself go ahead, but you won’t be able to fool other Muslims who know Islam as it was taught in the Quran.

If you are so much attached to Islam, live by it. Don’t try to change it and pick and choose what pleases you most. If you are unsatisfied with what you see, maybe it is time to move on.

Islam cannot be reformed. It must be abandoned. There is no such thing as liberal Islam. Those whom you call “liberal” or “moderate” Muslims are those who do not practice Islam, and to the extent that they disregard Islam they are moderate.

Hi Ali Sina, I like your

Hi Ali Sina,
I like your website not because it is critisizing other relgion but its logical and well referenced.Ihear Zakir Nail saying that the work JIHAD doesnt exist in Quran and also JIHAD actually means to strive rather than holywar. Can you please clarify?

Dear Mr Ali I have been

Dear Mr Ali

I have been reading your articles for quite a while and it appears most of your thoughts match mine. Your control over the language is absolutely wonderful. I didnt have much knowledge of Quran , Hadiths or Islam. But I had always detested muslims because of the way they lived. I am an Indian and a free thinking Hindu. As you know Hinduisim is not a religion like Islam or Christianity.Since iit is a way of life it has undergone rastic changes as the time passed. It encourages people o question. It also welcomes if you choose to be an agnostic. I firmly believe that if the religion doesnt allow you to use your reason then those believers of that religion will never grow to be good human beings. I lived in the middle east for many years and I speak Arabic fluently. I have moved with Arabs and I know their mindset. I ave never come across a so called "good muslim" in my life. But it is not their fault. It is Islam that has so much influence on their minds. I cannot understand why the western countries still dont take any stern actions rogue countries like Pakistan! Even in my country the government is soft on muslims. The world will be better off if this Islam is wiped off.

Problem with Islam is

Problem with Islam is MUSLIMS….they take every word written in Quran literally and fight and abuse others without thinking. (Just look at the language they use in the above comments! )
In fact every religion has statements that encourage violence, hatred and narrow thinking and claims to the effect that they are the best / only chosen path to GOD. Hinduism ( my religion) also has such statements.
But people other than Muslims ( and thankfully many Muslims too ) take such statements with a pinch of salt to coexist with people of other religions and also to adjust to modern world.
For example Krishna ( a Hindu god) also says I am the best and I am the only God and my way is the only way. But elsewhere Hindu scriptures also say that ‘truth is one.. only it is interpreted differently by different scholars’ Hindus will be stupid and will be hated by all if they recite only Krishna’s statements ( without understanding the context) but ignore the second statement!
Each religion was created to make humans better and to make them live with each other well and in a harmonious way. So also Islam.. Muslims must understand the thoughts and philosophy Holy Prophet propagated and not the exact words. Only then Muslims will find peace and happiness.
But I am afraid that will never happen and this downward spiral of hatred will only continue.

But most of the Muslims are

But most of the Muslims are ignorat of the fallacies of Islam. They dont have courage to face the truth. I have been one of them but thanks to this site i feel I have gained the biggest victory in my life. I have overcome my fear of hell.

The title of your rant suggests that Islam is not a monolithic religion, however through out your entire rant your never bring this up nor discuss it, I don't know whither or not you read these but should you not be addressing that.
