Let me add this, initially the 10th Guru, Guru Govind Singhji asked only for the eldest son of the family to be given to the panth for the protection of Hindus. Only the eldest son carried the 5 symbols of Sikhism at that time. This eldest son in turn was supposed to give only his eldest son upon reaching maturity and so on. These Sikhs were normal Hindus following a saintly tradition started by Guru Nanakji. No wonder you can find Ram's name 100s of time in the "Guru Granth Sahib" the holy book of Sikhs.

I heard that Sikhism is a mixture of Hinduism and Sufistic Islam, is this true?

I read about the mughal emporer compelling Teg Bahadur to accept islam but the latter refused and then was executed. When i read this story around 15 years ago, i was yet a muslim and did not see the biasness and prejudice exercised by the conquerer.

This prove the myth of peaceful Islam, the religion never was a tolerant one.

Historically, three groups of people have had the highest fertility rate. They are the Indic, Sinic and Slavic races. To this day these three groups continue with their natural trend. India and China have the highest population in the world. The decline of the Russian (Slavic) demography is due to very high abortion rate, break down of the family and a serious decline in health care after the fall of communism.

One and the only reason the Muslims were not able to completely Islamize India is due to continous Hindu population growth undetered by the Muslims' attrocities especially in the rural hinterland where the mostly urbanized Muslim forces were reluctant to venture out to. Credit for the survival of the Hindu civilization must go to the Hindu mothers.

Of the so many millions of Hindus, very few Hindu groups produced dedicated warriors. The reason could be because Hindu ethos is basically about living in the present and not in search of an after life in an unknown paradise. Of the few warrior groups and states, their contributions though valororous but on the whole compared to the contribution of the Hindu mothers pales in comparison.

Finally someone is giving credit to women. Without women no warriors would come. The Hindu/Indian women are so beautiful and loving. Most of them. The heroes of India need credit for at least telling the evil warriors of allah they will not win. Today the Hindus are still alive and Islam is dying, Personally, religion is a personal thing, not something that is forced upon persons. Due to the nature of Hinduism, conversion is almost impossible, but Islam is a political thiing from Arabs who use religion to get over. If allah is god then why not let him do the killing. The reason is, HE CAN'T. allah is nonsensical and nonexistent. Allah is the Devil as he says in Sura 3:54. If man joins a cult knowing it allows pedophilia, killing, fornication, polygamy, beheading, slavery, etc. then those men apparently enjoy doing those things. Islam gives them a religious right and frees the conscious of doing any evil for allah.

True valor and true sacrifice and yet this Guru (real teacher) did NOT make fake claims that he is the only way to salvation despite being sacrificed in the most barbaric way along with his beloved followers. I wish I have a drop of his valor and courage, if only Hindus have a drop of his courage and followed this Guru's example.

Yes Sikhism has many elements of Hinduism and Sufism in it.

The poetry of Sufis and Hindu saints in included in Sikh holy book, Adi Granth.

Aurangzeb is leveled as True Muslim Emperor by Muslim scholar. He had deep knowledge of Koran and did not show any mercy to non Muslims. On the other hand these same Muslim scholar call Akbar a Kafir, just because he repealed Poll taxes for a while because of political reasons, in reality he was no different than Aurangzeb.

Sufism is not some liberal islam, its equally evil. Just some begger muslims used to sing songs lifted from persian and hindusim. They also follow quran and thus evil like taliban.

Sufism is an attempt to whitewash and sugarcoat Islam, then offering the honeyed version of it to gullible "Unbelievers".

However, they are some Sufis that had been allegedly declared as heretic and apostate by the Orthodox Islamic scholars due to their controversial statements such as: " Drink Wine and burn the Kaabah, but never hurt a heart".

I do believe that some Sufis were really apostate of their time but living in an orthodox environment prevent them from openly declared their intention.

Great article. Sikhism always stresses that their is just one way of finding cummunion with God like all the others. They never say that their way is the only way like all the other religions. Guru was a great man to sacrifice hs life for the people of other religion. It shows he held all human life sacred. Personally he had no anomosity towards muslims as he had muslim followers too. A true human being to the core and was martyred for his right to differ with the wrong. Too bad, Sikhs are being misunderstood today because of their beard and turban which is entirely a cultural issue just like a cowboy hat is to american and a round hat is to the British. Thousands of sikhs soldiers have died in world war 1 and 2 to defend the british empire who found respect and use for them because of their martial prowess. Sat Sri Akal.
