Muslims are not the only people who pass on their religious beliefs to their children; this is a standard practice all over the world. But Islam is a very demanding religion even to adults and assumes total control of its adherents’ lives. The mass immigration of Muslims to the western countries resulted in the current situation where millions of Muslim children live in the west and their number is bound to increase. This situation creates a dilemma, to which the west is either oblivious or in denial, because Muslim children are entitled to the full protection of the western laws but at the same time have to abide by the Islamic law. This article will shed some light on some practices that are forced on the Muslim children living in the west, which normally would be considered as some form of child abuse.
Definition of a child
The transition between childhood and adulthood is a gradual process and is associated with both intellectual and sexual maturity. The medical profession, as I am told, considers childhood to extend up to the age of sixteen years. However, the demarcation line between childhood and adulthood remains slightly different among various countries of the world. In most of the western world, children are considered to have reached their adulthood at the age of 18 years. In Islam, the separation line between childhood and adulthood is based on sexual maturity. In general, boys are considered to have reached adulthood when they grow pubic hair or show other signs of sexual maturity. In the case of girls, it is the experience of the first menstruation that is considered to signal they have reached their adulthood. When Mohammed committed his mass murder against the Jewish tribe of Bani Qurayza by killing all the male adults and taking the rest as slaves, he used the appearance of pubic hair on boys as a sign of adulthood.
According to western standards, or any civilized standard, Mohammed’s marriage to Aysha and having sex with her at the age of nine years is a crime called paedophilia. However, Muslims call it an ordinary marriage and justify it on the supposition that girls in hot countries tend to reach sexual maturity faster than in cold countries. Muslims assume, without any evidence, that Aysha had a menstruation before her marriage and conclude that Mohammed had sex with an adult aged nine years! This justification by Muslims is an indication of how they understand maturity; simply it is sexual maturity and has nothing to do with the mind.
The Islamic definition of maturity means that many children as young as nine years may start to be treated as adults just because, in the example of girls, their menstrual cycles started early. Reaching adulthood is an important turning point in the lives of those children and involves fundamental changes in all aspects of their lives because it affects their religious duties such as performing prayers and fasting.
1. Indoctrination
Muslims teach their children about hell the Satan and paradise from the moment they start to communicate with them. These teachings are used as a means to discipline children and encourage them to be obedient to their parents. One of the first words Arab children learn is ‘haram’ meaning forbidden by allah; indeed it is one of the most commonly used words by the Arabs. From my own experience, the peril of being burnt in hell fire was a real nightmare and an intimidation tool used by my elder relatives to make me listen to them, eat my food, wash my hands, do work, stop playing or go to bed.
As a child, I had a troubling feeling of guilt because I appeared to be doing wrong things most of the time. I had to struggle to suppress my worries that, unless I work very hard for the rest of my life, my ‘hasanat’ (good doings) vs ‘sayaat’ (sins) balance may send me to hell. I was not the only child to have concerns; other children had similar qualms which we occasionally discussed with each other! Childhood is about playing and having fun with no worries whatsoever. However, Muslim children, even from the preschool age, have a great deal to worry about in this life and the afterlife. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when I figured out that children do not go to hell anyway, but that was a little too late for me because I had already grown up.
One of the most irrational things a Muslim child has to do is to read the Quran by heart. I consider myself to be lucky because in my days we were only expected to read a few pages from the Quran albeit they were the last pages which are in the difficult Meccan style language. Nowadays, thanks to the resurgence of Islamic awareness, children are increasingly required to read the whole Quran by heart! Memorizing an entire book, often in a foreign language and without understanding it, affects the child’s abilities to comprehend anything else. This memorizing practice says it all about the Muslims intellectual reasoning- read everything but understand nothing.
2. Ibadat: Prayers and Fasting
In theory, all ibadat like prayers and fasting are obligatory only to mature Muslims. However, parents are required, not only to teach, but also to force their children to perform those ibadat. According to Bukhari and Muslim and all other hadith books, Mohammed’s orders are crystal clear: “teach your children how to pray from the age of seven, and beat them (if they don’t do it well) at the age of ten”.
Fortunately for me, my parents were not that keen and they did not beat me at all. However, an increasing number of Muslim parents nowadays do beat their children if they don’t pray. Only a few months ago, I heard of a Muslim professional, with high level of education and good social standing, who was applying the above Islamic rule on all his children and was caught only when his eleven- year-old son suffered from serious injuries. The real shock, however, is that he is not alone, all strict Muslims would not hesitate to do it and they get away with it.
Young Muslim children in western schools perform prayers and do fasting, which can harm them. The schools do not only allow the children to suffer because of this practice but they also encourage it by providing the special time and special facilities. Soon, the fasting month of Ramadan will fall in the summer months with its long days, in some countries that means about eighteen hours of starvation! I know a Muslim who performs all five daily prayers in the mosque, which is about twenty minutes drive, he wakes up early in the morning to start his journey to the mosque, accompanied by his 14 years old son!
Do the western child protection organizations have the courage to protect these children from such suffering?
3. Child play
Muslim children are not allowed to join the others and enjoy the fun of playing with dolls or figures because Islam prohibits images of humans or animals. They are not allowed to watch popular children cartoons like the notorious Micky mouse, against which many fatwas have been issued. In Saudi Arabia, they discourage children from committing the sin of painting human or animal figures unless they draw a line across the neck as a sign that the figure has no life in it!
4. Hijab and the Islamic outfit
Muslim women suffer because of Hijab although they wouldn’t admit it. It is a religious stigma that tells the others everything about her beliefs without even talking to her and works like a declaration that the bearer has to be treated differently. Hijab and Islamic dress produces an isolated and psychologically traumatized woman because it denies women their own feminine instincts of showing their hair and beauty.
It is common to see young Muslim girls with hijab and full Islamic outfit even in the primary schools. Those young children suffer unconsciously because of their Islamic dress. They become aware of their sexuality from an early age and look at the other males as sexual predators. In addition to the psychological damage, the Islamic dress is an unhealthy dress. During the summer months, hijab and the rest of the Islamic dress are uncomfortable and can become embarrassingly smelly because of the excessive sweating. Recently, there have been many reports about the high incidence of the bone disease (rickets) in Muslim women because of their lack of exposure to sunlight which is essential to produce vitamin D, the lack of which causes bone disease.
5. Violence and Suicide bombing
Muslim children are indoctrinated to believe they are victims of world conspiracy that aims to eliminate them. They are regularly fed on the horrific and disturbing scenes of injuries, blood and death that even adults cannot watch. These children have learned Quranic verse 2:120 that tells them all about this secret world conspiracy: “.. the Jews and the Christians will never be happy about you unless you follow them...”
Having told the Muslims that everyone in the world hates them, the Quran now emphasises in a number of places that Muslims must never trust or befriend the others, like this verse 4:89 “ ....take them and kill them wherever you find them and choose no friends or helpers from them..”
The Quran repeats its orders in a dozen of places; the message is important and clear: never trust the unbelievers no matter how nice they may appear to you, even if they were close family members. Verse 9:23 leaves no doubt about the gravity of this message of hate “...O believers, do not take your fathers or brothers as allies and friends if they prefer to disbelieve ..”
Do not befriend your father or brothers! So much for the family values in Islam.
Muslim children are indoctrinated from an early stage to aspire to become martyrs and have been used as suicide bombers. Hamas has pioneered the practice of using young children as frontline soldiers during the Palestinian intifada. The human instinct is to protect children during conflicts and wars but the Islamists have reversed this natural human reaction by pushing children to the front lines armed with stones, and sometimes explosive belts, to kill and be killed.
The shia Muslims mourn the death of Al Imam Al Hussain on ashoura day by going to the streets and start beating their chests. They use tools such as knives and swords to self inflict injuries and cause bloodshed, the scenes of blood and sufferings are not for the weak hearted. Shia children do not only see all this but sometimes they are also made to participate in it.
6. Child Abduction
Muslims’ marriages to non Muslims are always fragile marriages because they are built on lies. Most of these relations tend to involve North African or Asian Muslims. Of course, it is always a Muslim husband and a non Muslim wife, because it cannot happen the other way round. Also it is almost always a dark skinned Muslim who marries a white woman, because those Muslims consider white skin on a woman as a sign of beauty.
Muslim families may love to see one of their sons bringing home a white European woman; this is often seen as a good achievement. In theory, the non Muslim wife can keep her religion but her children must be raised as Muslims. In any case there is usually tremendous pressure on her to convert sooner rather than later. Conversion makes it easier for the family to tame a stranger woman with a different culture. The typical scenario involves projecting Islam as a religion of peace and good family values that is based on the Quran, which is the unchanged words of Allah. The Quran is described to her as a book of amazing miracles and language beauty but it is a misfortune that she doesn’t speak the language to enjoy all those wonderful beauties!
A converted wife is easier to adapt to Muslims’ culture and easier to control using her new religion as a means of discipline. A converted woman soon discovers the lies and the marriage falls apart, which reflects badly on the children because they must be separated from their mother. The Islamic law very strictly ‘protects’ children from being raised by infidels and requires their separation from their mothers. This is a tragedy that is happening everyday all over the world.
The above are only some of the Islamic practices that would normally provoke outrage in the west and described as child abuse. The western countries have already accepted those children in their countries and are under moral obligation to protect them from the practices of Islam. The alternative is to raise children with a jaundiced view of the world who may grow up only to become suicide bombers.

I have interacted with many sodis and moscums from asian countries and others.They all do appreciate the children and like them just as we the kafirs do.

Let's talk frankly. Almost never do non-Muslims study Islam until they have first exhausted the religions of their exposure. Only after they have grown dissatisfied with the religions familiar to them, meaning Judaism, Christianity and all the fashionable "-isms" - Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism (and, as my young daughter once added, "tourism") - do they consider Islam.
Perhaps other religions do not answer the big questions of life, such as "Who made us?" and "Why are we here?" Perhaps other religions do not reconcile the injustices of life with a fair and just Creator. Perhaps we find hypocrisy in the clergy, untenable tenets of faith in the canon, or corruption in the scripture. Whatever the reason, we perceive shortcomings in the religions of our exposure, and look elsewhere. And the ultimate "elsewhere" is Islam.
Now, Muslims would not like to hear me say that Islam is the "ultimate elsewhere." But it is. Despite the fact that Muslims comprise one-fourth to one-fifth of the world's population, non-Muslim media smears Islam with such horrible slanders that few non-Muslims view the religion in a positive light. Hence, it is normally the last religion seekers investigate.
Another problem is that by the time non-Muslims examine Islam, other religions have typically heightened their skepticism: If every "God-given" scripture we have ever seen is corrupt, how can the Islamic scripture be different? If charlatans have manipulated religions to suit their desires, how can we imagine the same not to have happened with Islam?
The answer can be given in a few lines, but takes books to explain. The short answer is this: There is a God. He is fair and just, and He wants us to achieve the reward of paradise. However, God has placed us in this worldly life as a test, to weed out the worthy from the unworthy. And we will be lost if left to our own devices. Why? Because we don't know what He wants from us. We can't navigate the twists and turns of this life without His guidance, and hence, He has given us guidance in the form of revelation.
Sure, previous religions have been corrupted, and that is why we have a chain of revelation. Ask yourself: why would God send another revelation if the preceding scriptures were still pure? Only if preceding scriptures were corrupted would God need to send another revelation, to keep mankind on the straight path of His design.
So we should expect preceding scriptures to be corrupted, and we should expect the final revelation to be pure and unadulterated. If impure, it too is due to be replaced, for we cannot imagine a loving God leaving us astray. What we can imagine is God giving us a scripture, and men corrupting it; God giving us another scripture, and men corrupting it again … and again, and again. Until God sends a final revelation He promises to preserve until the end of time.
Muslims consider this final revelation to be the Holy Qur'an. You consider it … worth looking into. So let us return to the title of this article: Why Islam? Why should we believe that Islam is the religion of rruth, the religion that possesses the pure and final revelation?
Oh, just trust me.
Now, how many times have you heard that line? A famous comedian used to joke that people of different cities cuss one another out in different ways. In Chicago, they cuss a person out this way, in Los Angeles they cuss a person out that way, but in New York they just say, "Trust me."
So don't trust me - trust our Creator. Read the Qur'an; read books and study this website. But whatever you do, get started, take it seriously, and pray for our Creator to guide you.

Proud Christian, there is no need to be surprised. I was a Muslim past my post graduation which I had done in a technical field which required research and critical thinking. However when it comes to religion most people are not able to accept the shortcomings. This includes just about everyone. Each one of us thinks that our religion is perfect or there is nothing wrong with my religion. It is a human trait which has nothing to do with one's intelligence. The other reason is that most people don't like to venture out of their comfort zones which society provides us. Most of us prefer to live in familiar surroundings with familiar faces and ideologies. Unlike in the West where you may find people belonging to different faiths still maintain their filial ties; unfortunately such cases are rare in the East. This problem accentuates itself manifold when it comes to Muslims or Islamic societies. For a Muslim, especially for a non-Arab Muslim the only identity that he or she has is that of a Muslim. Ever since childhood we are taught that being Muslim is the biggest gift or God. Eventually all other identities take a backseat, this includes race, nationality, language, etc. By the time we are adults most of us cling on to the only identity that we have, tooth and nail. I personally feel apostizing from Islam is the most difficult of all apostasies. No other religious group perhaps lays so much emphasis on being a part of that group than Muslims. A person, whether he is a doctor, an engineer, or scientist is also bound by the same laws that others are. Educated Muslims, especially those who are aware of what Islam is are perhaps the worst amongst all. Simply because denying Islam would mean denying their own identity. Being educated and aware of the falsehood of Islam, they are left with two choices, either accept Islam or reject it. The second choice means abandoning everything they held close to their heart and unlearning all religion and changing outlook. This is not a very easy choice to make....

If God is fair and just creator, then who created him? Let us talk about that.
If he is fair and just, why create unworthies in the first place? Just create worthies and bring the paradise to this Earth. How creation of a just person could be unworthy in the first place? A perfect person should do perfect job (that is why he is perfect in the first place). Something is definately missing.
Use wisdom to navigate twists and turns. If there have been some people to whom it was revealed, why can't you be one of them? What is such finality about Mohammad, the prophet (many of whose deeds are definately not worth emulating and whose name many killings have happened)

First all Islam does not answer any of the above mentioned questioned when we read the Quran, Sirat, Sunnah or any of the Hadiths. Of course the lady that you quoted, if she really exists, has been reading propaganda literature. For example, does she believe that man was made from a clot of blood, or does she believe that the first humans were Adam and Eve. Does she believe that Iblees was kicked out of Heaven for not prostrating before Adam. I mean if she wants to believe in Fairy tales, and then why not opt for a better fairy tale. One that does not enjoin upon its followers to kill others for what they believe. Actually I wish to enumerate on the Iblees part just a little more. Actually when , according to the Muslim Quran, Iblees did not prostrate infront of Adam he was merely practicing Tawheed, or pure monotheism in its best form. He declined to worship any one except Allah who is the God of the Quran. It shows the devotion he had to his God. Try to look at things this way. Furthermore did Allah not put the intention of not prostrating in front of Adam in the heart of Iblees. So why is he to be blamed? Is that fair? According to Islamic sources, the future of every person is predestined by Allah. It is he who decides who goes where: Heaven or Hell. So if everything is predetermined isn’t everything we do futile. Besides the Islam concept of redemption is extremely flawed. Some Hadith point out that Redemption is only by the will of Allah, no matter how many good deeds you do, you cannot be redeemed unless Allah wishes so. Other Hadith say that a person's good deeds take him to Heaven or Paradise. However how does a person know that his good deeds are enough to take him to Paradise, or that all his good deeds wont go in vain just because Allah does not desire him to go to Paradise. Then again comes to question of the punishment of the grave, when the man in the grave is being tortured by Allah's minions, who is suffering and is the suffering physical or spiritual. Spiritual is out of the question because Islam does not talk about spiritualism in anywhere in the Quran. So in the end we are left with more question than answers. Of course if you are gullible and Islam is exactly what you are looking for, then it will satisfy you. If you don’t have the courage to face the realities of life you will take recourse in fairy tales that makes you feel better.

My primary charge against Muhammad still remains and I repeat it here, was muhammad a true prophet or was he just another impostor, a cult leader? In other words for what proof should we believe muhammad was a prophet of almighty God? Jews believe in moses, they will tell you God used moses to rescue them from eygpt, cross the red sea to the holy land. Christians believe in Jesus, they will tell you he is the messiah for their spiritual lives and promised them eternal lives. As a proof of that he did marvelous wonders including rising from the dead. So what do muslim have to say about the proof of muhamad prophethood? A concrete proof and not the usual "quran" asinine claim!

Thank you Mumin Salih for exposing some of the evil teachings and practices of Islam, not only against women and non-Muslims, but also to helpless children. It also sadly brought back painful memories of my own childhood whilst trapped in its strangling coils.
I now also wish publicly to take this opportunity to thank all those vicious and sadistic moolas who made my childhood a living hell whilst I was one of the many unfortunate students forced by my deluded parents to attend one of their typical vile madressas. Little did these moolas realize that their brutal blows, kicks, whippings and verbal abuse would force me to open my mind to the true nature of this cult of ignorance and death! Their cruelty only served to further immunize me from their futile attempts to brainwash me.
For every merciless beating by these moolas each time I made an innocent mistake trying to pronounce a difficult Arabic word and that was treated as an act of blasphemy, my hate grew stronger for them and their so-called religion of peace.
My studies of their “holy” scriptures taught me the real source of their cruelty. It has every thing to do with Islam and very little to do with human nature. Cruelty is taught and is not part of our human nature. Islam continues to corrupt those who succumb to its madness.

Sir, Mumin Salish, first of all I wish to sympathize. I'm sorry you went through some kind of hell as a child. I find it sad. But in a way, I believe you can become a better man by suffering. You tend to become humble and understanding because of your suttering once you pull away from your ordeal.
What bothers me most of all about Islam is that old Muslim male perverts force little girls, actually kidnap them, as young as eight to "marry" them, and then literally rape them. To me that is the sadist part about Islam. How the child must suffer.

Yes it's true Allah is now in Gaza when Israel fires rockets and bombards the entire city. Allah guides the Israelis missile to hit the target and killing many Muslims including women and children. So what if Ayesha was menstruating at nine years old, that does not make her an adult. This is Islamic understanding of sexual maturity, which is very irrational and contradicts human biology which states humans do not stop developing until we reach our late teens. I was a "firm" believer at some point in my life, but I've always had my doubt and questions and I have to agree with you everything you said is true.
I see my stepfather's family. And, even if they aren't considered practicing muslims. They really do know how to take a girl's childhood away.
I always get scolded when I talk to other boys even if their in the family. And the mothers are always screaming if you're not wearing a scarf on your head or a scarf that's covering your chest area. It really does make you think of men as sexual predators. Even as a little girl.
